Urbano Pizza!
Ok, I've just went and the meal still sits fresh in my head. My friend Anne Alderete @TunaToast Went last night to Urbano Pizza Bar www.urbanopizzabar.com and said it was fantastic! So today I just had to go. Tell me about a brand new pizza joint that makes traditional Italian crispy thin crust pizza and I'm all over it!
Well it did not disappoint. Not in the bit. Actually took my by surprise. This crust is so flavorful and so perfectly done, I'm at a loss for words. The whole set up is lovely.
Santa Barbara Wine Country – Part I- Pre Wine Tasting FOOD
One of my favorite get aways from the City of Angels is the Wine Country of Santa Barbara County, aka Santa Ynez Valley. It is nearly the perfect little day or weekend trip. I've done both, the day trip and multiple days. There is as much or as little as you want to do. But primarily there is a lot of food and wine, and more wine, with some smattering of beer, if that's your bag. From LA, it's a little over two hours depending on route and traffic. Some sections of the 101 gets a bit
INK!!
Okay, I would like to thank Mr. Michael Voltaggio for bring such a graceful restaurant to Los Angeles. Now maybe food critics and lovers of food will think of the City of Angels as a real eating destination. Myself and 5 friends were able to secure reservations for last night, Monday. They have only started to open on Monday's and I just happened to be on their website when I saw there were openings to be had! mvink.com GO, Go everyday. Get a reservation. And try to get some like
The Purple Pig – Chicago
Well spent the last weekend in Chicago. It was my first time, and definitely not the last. The food/wine/cocktail scene there is off the hook. Luckily my local friends took me to some fantastic places. Here was my favorite, The Purple Pig. http://www.thepurplepigchicago.com/index.html
There motto is one of the best I've scene in a while.
Cheese,Wine & Swine
They had me with that statement. And they did not disappoint. We did not even delve into their Cheese section.
ICELAND!!
I have not had time to be working on this site lately! Sorry Folks.
But I have gone one better and have been working on my own Travel Photography Food site where I'm writing about my trip to Iceland. Just got back late late late Monday and spent most of yesterday in jet lag hangover mode. The free Scotch for 7 hours from Reykjavik to connection in Seattle was maybe part. I'm sorry but going West and it keeps getting sunnier and sunnier. I could not sleep. And IcelandAir has only the
Beef Brisket
Okay, do you like a great slow cooked, juicy, buttery, amazingly marbled piece of meat. Then go to the Tam O' Shanter in Atwater Village on Los Feliz Bvld. It is the most amazing piece of meat on a bun that will ever of tasted. They make their own potato chips, cole slaw and potato salad. All of which you get to put on your plate with your freshly carved sandwich THAT they carve right in front of you. It is truly a work of art.
You will not be disappointed with this sandwich. AND
Mammoth, CA
When we are up in the mountains of CA in the town of Mammoth Lakes we love the SideDoor restaurant. They have an awesome wine list, great sandwiches, and crepes. It is right in the village, so you can easily take the gondola down from Canyon Lodge and BOOM! there you are! In our favorite lunch in the village!
Sushi
Last night we hit Toshi Sushi in Little Tokyo in Downtown LA. Fish was fresh and tasty. Got sashimi because we like our fish for fish. We don’t need no stinking rice with that. The Tuna and Salmon were absolutely fantastic. They made us a spicy yellowtail handroll and a spicy scallop cut roll. They were done simply and tasty. What more could you ask for??? Also had some delicious sake and beer.
